15-18 Club Tryout Information

Our 15-18 & Under teams are ideal for those athletes who have played at the high school level or have played club volleyball previously. These age divisions will split up into three teams per age group. Our three teams will consist of local, regional, and national. Please find the following explanations below for the differences in each level. Only register for the HIGHEST level of travel and competition that your family is able to commit to.

Athletes registered for the local team option will find out within 96 hours of tryouts if they made the team. Athletes registered for Regional/National option will find out within 72 hours if they are on the roster for one of the two teams. Regional/National rosters will not be solidified until after several group practices in December and early January to help determine skills and chemistry.

LOCAL- Tournaments located throughout the Black Hills and Gillette, WY. The season begins with practice twice per week beginning in February. The season concludes at the end of April/early May depending on tournament dates. Specific position practices and team practices are offered. Six tournament/competition days will be offered for this team level. The cost is under evaluation for the 2027 season.

REGIONAL- Tournaments will be located throughout the region within about a six hour radius from Rapid City. Some city examples may include:  Kearney, NE, Casper, WY, Sheridan, WY, Billings, MT, and several cities around South Dakota. Practice begins end of December/January for team placement and continues into the second weekend of May to finish the season in Billings, MT. The regional teams will be attending 10 tournament days.  This includes three multi-day tournaments. The cost is under evaluation for the 2027 season.

NATIONAL- Tournaments will be mainly located in the Midwest/Rocky Mountain region. Some tournament city examples include: Minneapolis, MN, Chicago, IL, Denver, CO, Sioux Falls, SD, Billings, MT. Practice begins end of December/January for team placement and continues into June for USAV/AAU Nationals. If team does not qualify for USAV Nationals, the team may choose between the following tournaments to attend in June: AAU Nationals  or the Phoenix Volleyball Festival. There will be at least one tournament per month beginning in February. If there is a second tournament, it will be in the Black Hills. These tournaments will commonly be two or three day tournaments. Nineteen tournament days are scheduled fo this age group. The cost is under evaluation for the 2027 season.

This includes AAU/AZ additional fees, so families can adjust for the year. Flights and Hotels to AAU/USAV nationals are paid for by the families. Any additional nationals fundraising will go directly towards experiences and additional jerseys/clothing for the players.
